Abstract
Several substrates were mixed with water and sludge of sewage in glass tubes respectively; feces of human, fowl, hog and cattle, crushed straw material: 100gm each sludge of sewage: 100ml water: 50m1
The production of gases was measured and compared.
1. The amount of total gas and methane gas were almost correlated. There was correlationship between the amount of carbon dioxide and methane gas with the gas following formula; CH4=1.76XCO2.
2. The media containing fowl feces produced more gas than cattle, hog and human feces and the least amount in the straw containing media. The gas production in fecal media increased until 15days and then declined, but the gas in straw media increased slowly until 25 days.
3. The media under 25¡ÆC condition produced more gases than under 15¡ÆC and 5¡ÆC.
